The Hell of Separation

What we consider hell in this world comes in different forms.
The fallen human mind is capable of insights as to its reality. But the anticipation of any punishment in the one true Hell is beyond anything we are capable of conceiving.
Recently a short music video was produced from a song entitled "Chrystal Ball." In an homage to old Twilight Zone episodes of the past, it shows a man slowly becoming disconnected from reality and the horror and confusion that such a separation produces. Click on the image at right entitled "Crystal Ball" and take a few minutes to watch. As Christians, we should never rely upon worldly insights or secular examples to replace the exemplary power of scripture itself, but on occasion evidence of our spiritual condition breaks through the culture we live in and it's worth pointing out.
As men we can never forget our desperate need for the savior that is Jesus Christ. And as men who love our families, go to our jobs, enjoy our hobbies and past times and are connected to the world around us, let us not forget the terror we would feel if one day it were gone and there was no one, no savior from that terror to turn to for help. Lets therefore choose to focus on these relationships, our wives, our families, our communities, making worship our priority and letting the fruits of that worship flow out into the rest of our lives. Knowing that in the blink of an eye or the course of a normal day, everything we value in this life could just disappear. Let us not be distracted from our faith and our duties in striving to be men of God.
Still, as this world is just a shadow of the one to come, Heaven or Hell, all the relationships we have with others are only glimpses of the true relationship that we have with God. He is the one whose grace and comfort we never want to be separated from.
The Hard Truth is that separation from God's comforting presence, being cast into His punishing presence, is the true nature and punishment of the one true Hell we're all headed for without Christ.
Don't let this happen to you.

For a powerful message on this topic, which digs into the true nature of Hell and Christ's sacrifice to free us from it, click the link below. John MacArthur preached a recent message on Christ's suffering on the cross which is well worth the uninterrupted hour it takes to hear.
