Two Years Later...

Two years ago a group of men from a small congregation in Edgewood, New Mexico called Covenant of Grace Bible Church, met together near the fountain located on the campus of another faithful church, Grace Community Church in Van Nuys California. While attending the 2007 Shepherd's Conference, one of the men learned that his son, an infant at the time, had become very ill and required hospitalization. Being so far from our home in New Mexico and having just arrived at the conference, we took the time to gather and pray for the health of this brother's little boy. Happily he is now healthy and doing well. While in prayer, the men were photographed by Lucas Van Dyke, the conference photographer who happened to be in the area at the time. This image has become the welcome image for The Hard Truth and embodies the heart of the devotion to the Lord this blog stands for and hopes to communicate. (Thanks to Mr. Van Dyke)

This year at the 2009 Shepherd's Conference, the Lord again called together this same group of men. One of these men now attends the Master's Seminary, and each has a tale to tell about their lives and how the Lord has worked in their hearts over the last two years. All endeavor to be faithful men of God.

So in sadness but praise for God's great plan for our lives, by a work of God's sovereignty, another little boy, this time the infant son of the author of this blog, badly needs prayer.

My wife and I have discovered after several weeks of testing and doctor's appointments that our 8-week-old son has congenital hip dysplasia. A fancy name for saying he was born with both hips dislocated and possessing shallow hip sockets. He is in pain as we work to treat his potentially life changing ailment with mechanical means as a first line of attack. Without progress in the few short weeks ahead however, he will most likely need surgery to correct the problem.

Please take a moment if this blog has been a blessing to you in any way to pray for my son, Jace Christian, that the Lord would allow the non-invasive means we are attempting to succeed, heal his joints, and prevent surgery on his little body. We will find out in a weeks time what the Lord will have in store for this young life. During this time of family difficulty, postings to The Hard Truth will be further apart, but please keep checking the blog for new entries and links of interest to you. The Hard Truth will be updated but not as often as usual until the present family trial is laid before the Lord and brought to some resolution. Thank you in advance for your prayers! And thank you for visiting the blog and following this ministry. Rest assured it will be updated and will continue.
