When dirt isn't dirty

People are lamenting the fact (read here) that the new film 'Avatar' presents a planet with an environment which does not exist. This isn't new to movies, but the 3D effect of this film seems to be having a greater impact on audiences (also known as sinful human beings.) Everything on this other imaginary planet is perfect. The dirt doesn't seem dirty. People are seeing in this film a world that they wish existed here on earth, and with all the color schemes and a story of planetary harmony mixed in, something is capturing people at a deeper level.

I believe I have a explanation as to why.

People are seeing what their spirit sees as a marvelous glimpse of the Garden of Eden. They are longing for the existence human beings had before The Fall. Jim Cameron has got it wrong when he tries to explain the spiritual harmonies or the world he's envisioned. Yet isn't it interesting to see the fallen human spirit reach and grasp and struggle to understand the truth, even going so far as to invent alternatives to the very truth it searches for? How much of an evangelistic tool this movie could be when speaking to unbelievers.

"Oh, you liked seeing Avatar? You know that's only a movie right? Let me tell you about when our world looked like that. Let me tell you how it will look again. Let me tell you why."
